TWO LARGE ANTIQUE FRENCH COPPER PAN LIDS, SPLASH LIDS, IRON HANDLE, COPPER RIVET, 30 & 28cm diam 52 & 49cm long, ROCQUENCOURT 2 & 4 - 1800s FRENCH KITCHENALIA - REDUCED!

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

Part of several items we got from an antique dealer at Chatillon sur Seine, Burgundy, these apparently came from the clearance of a local chateau kitchen.

They are large hand crafted, attractively worn, copper pan lids or splash lids which were probably bespoke made for the kitchen.

Although two different sizes they are both marked with the name ROCQUENCOURT which I’m advised is likely to be a maker’s or owners mark.

Proper antiques with copper riveted iron handles that I’m advised date to the late 1800s.

We have used these as decorative items in a country kitchen but haven’t used them for cooking.

Very well used but sound, these are still functional as intended and also make great decorative pieces of French country kitchenalia.

In good antique condition with wear, staining, light rust to the handles, tarnishing, dents, knocks, and scratches - please examine photographs carefully for condition.

In more or less as found condition having just had a wash - I’m sure they would polish up well if so required.

Hang well.

The copper surfaces are sound and have some staining, tarnishing, dents, scratches, and wear - see photos.

The copper is quite thick but has some flex to it and they are slightly bent from the flat - see photos.

The undersides have worn traditional tin lining - see photos.

The iron handles are in good condition with some light surface rust.

They have copper riveted handle joints that are secure at the rivets.

NOTE: on the larger lid the end of the iron handle joint at the single rivet end has lost a piece of the iron which causes a little looseness and rattling. That said it is secure and doesn’t move at the upper double riveted handle joint.

Due to their worn nature they don’t lie perfectly flat - see photos.

Marked: ROCQUENCOURT 2 and ROCQUENCOURT 4.

Measure approximately:
30 & 28 cm diameter,
52 & 49 cm long,
Weigh about 2.2 kg in total.
