LARGE VINTAGE FRENCH COPPER & ALUMINIUM FISH KETTLE, POISSONIERE, POACHER, JARDINIERE, WITH LID & INSERT, 70cm LONG 2.7kg - TOURNUS FRANCE - REDUCED!

WILL POST - I can post this for £10 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

Part of our French copper kitchenalia collection, we got this from a vide maison in Beaumont sur Vesle in the Champagne region.
Used by us predominantly for display and occasionally on a window sill with herbs/plants slotted into it (the trivet allowing for the pots to easily be lifted out and changed).
Manufactured by Tournus and marked as such, it is actually a vintage French copper fish kettle or poissoniere for poaching fish such as salmon (they can also be used to steam asparagus).
The owner dated it to the 1970s and said it had been used to cook with originally then stored.

Although worn and very well used it’s in good condition, watertight, and still with it’s lid, steamer insert, and intact aluminium lining.
A large piece with brass handles, it is still functional as intended and also makes a great planter, window box, or just an impressive piece of French kitchenalia…

In good vintage condition with tarnishing, wear, staining and knocks consistent with its age and use - please examine photos carefully for condition.
This was in quite a dirty condition when acquired and has just had a thorough wash - I’m sure it would polish up well if so required.
Solid and sound with no structural damage but has wear and some tarnishing spots - see photos.
The copper surfaces are worn with staining and a few small dents but sound - see photos.
Watertight and still functional for cooking.
The upper edges are sound but a little rough in places - see photos.
The base is worn but sound.
The interior is worn and stained but sound with the aluminium lining in a worn but intact condition.
The brass handles are worn but sound and strong enough to lift when full.
The handle joints are strongly riveted.
The lid is sound, fits well, and is lined to the underside.
Note: one end of the lid is bent a little and doesn’t quite fit flush with the kettle - see photos
The steamer insert or trivet is in sound used condition.
Marked TOURNUS FRANCE to one end under the handle.

Approximate dimensions:
70 cm long handle end to handle end,
61.5 cm long to the exterior edge,
18.5 cm wide,
11 cm tall to the top edge,
weighs about 2.7 kg.
