Pair of Large Ancient Egyptian Inspired Male & Female Pottery Tiles

Please note that the male tile partially cracked laterally during the firing but I injected resin into the crack that stabilized it - not visible from the front and is still fine after more than 25 years

Due to the resin repair to this tile it's probably advisable not to hang outside

I modelled the originals in clay, made plaster moulds, sharpened the detail in the plaster before it became firm and once it was totally dry, hand pressed these tile.
When the clay was firm enough, the tiles were decorated and then had to be dried slowly on thick wades of newspaper and turned every day to prevent warping.
I had several crack during the firing process so in the end abandoned making them.
These tile and the others I am listing have been hanging on a wall in my attic for over twenty years - unseen.

Only one impression was ever taken of these tiles
