LARGE ANTIQUE FRENCH WROUGHT IRON PLANT STAND, FOUR GRADUATED CAMPANA SHAPED POT HOLDERS, 99cm Long 83cm Tall 31cm Wide/Deep 8.5kg - EX CHATEAU ESTATE - EARLY 1900s - REDUCED !

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

We got this from a vide grange (barn sale) at Silvarouvres in the Haute Marne region of Champagne but apparently it originally came from an estate sale at the nearby Château de Dinteville.

Estate made and hand crafted in wrought iron with four Campana shaped planter/pot holders in a graduated ascending/descending shape it dates to the early 1900s.

We have used it as a barrier planter to the side of an entrance gate with trailing pelargoniums but it displays well in all situations.

Now worn and rusted with peeling paint but showing a great patina it is still really sound and imposing and makes a fantastic plant stand or just a grand focal point…

In good sound condition with wear, peeling and peeled paint, knocks and rust consistent with its age and use but no damage - please examine photos carefully for condition.
In a nicely aged antique condition this is currently in use as intended and the patina may vary just a little from that photographed by the time of sale.
It has had a light brush down and clean removing the loosest of the rusting and peeling paint but nothing more. We like the rusted and worn patina but I’m sure it would paint up well if required.
Solid and sound with no structural damage.
The iron is quite thick and strong.
There are several layers of old paint visible, the last being black which is now very worn - see photos.
NOTE: There is extensive rusting but there is no through perforation, no splits in the iron, and all joints are secure. There is still some flaking of small rust particles and peeling paint but the surfaces are sound - see photos.
There are four Campana shaped pot holders with circular openings at the top of about 16 cm diameter all of which are secure and sound.
Stands well on a total of six feet that are worn but sound.
I can find no maker’s mark.
