Description
Jacaranda is renowned for it's beautiful purple blossom, and it lines the streets of cities of warm countries, such as South Africa. It is said that it doesn't always flower in Britain, but is possible. However, even without flowers it is an attractive tree, with really nice foliage.
It is not suitable for British gardens, year round, as it is not able to survive sub zero temperatures. There is two possible ways to grow the tree in the UK.
1. Bonsai. The tree makes a great indoor bonsai tree, and can be kept very small in a bonsai pot. Although it will remain small, it can grow fast, so can look like a full tree within just a year or two.
2. Larger bonsai for conservatories and summer patios. If kept in a large planter it will grow larger than a bonsai, but still remain manageable. It can be grown in a conservatory, porch etc and if you want it can then be taken outdoors for the summer months after last frost day and kept on a patio, balcony, decking area, then brought indoors, before first frost.
Size 6 to 12cm.
Sent 1st. Class bareroot, in a letterbox friendly box, so it can be delivered if you are not in. Place in a pot with compost and water. Keep in a sunny place. In winter a cheap led grow light can help keep it as healthy as possible. These can be bought and they just look like shelf lights.
