Hi, I'm Carrie Thomas of Touchwood, and I am crazy about plants and gardening. I grow many special, unusual and rare plants and will share seeds of some here as part of my 'Very Special Seeds' collection.
Also available as seedlings: £1 a pot (3-5 seedlings), buy 4 get 1 free (lots of choice of different seedlings as well as these lovelies!)
Sometimes I also have them as plants, some are very large and may be as much as £5.

ERYNGIUM EBURNEUM, is a very unusual sea holly. Long, strappy foliage with strong serrations that look sharp, but are surprisingly soft.

WHY SHOULD I GROW THIS? Perhaps you just like to grow something rare and unusual (yet easy)... then this definitely will suit you and your garden. Perhaps you want year-round interest? The leaves form large, unusual clumps (rather exotic looking, I think), and, being evergreen look good year-round.
Perhaps height is another requirement. Well, leaves themselves are perhaps 2' / 50cms tall (and wide), but the real height is when they flower. They absolutely SOAR!!! I expect the highest ones will be way above head level of most people, which also means plenty of flowers will be at eye level. That way you can really appreciate them, masses of small green balls, visited often by pollinators.
You can sow this winter and enjoy germination in spring. The rosettes of foliage from seed are a real delight... garden visitors are amazed, they look so exotic, almost cactusy. A year afterwards they should flower, then continue to flower for you year after year after year, in slowly increasing clumps. Anything else? Well I find they're slugproof in my garden. Need I say more?!
