I'm a professional music artist, pianist, composer and singer-songwriter. I am unique teacher due to the fact that I have specialised in many disciplines over a varied career. When working with a new student, it is of the utmost importance to me to tailor my approach to each students' particular interests, goals and desires. I am flexible, working with all types of music, and a variety of goals, from learning just for fun, to wanting to perfect on-stage performance technique.

Beginning as a classical pianist aged 3, I received my first degree in classical piano aged 11, and a second at 15. At 13, I performed at the Royal Festival Hall with concert pianist Lang Lang, and was then pianist for the Duke and Duchess of Rutland for a few years.

I went on to study songwriting, singing, acting and musical theatre, and then specialised in jazz singing and piano at Purcell School of Music, where I also band led a 11 piece big-band as lead vocalist. After this I went to American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York where I received my degree in Acting.

For the past 7 years, I've been primarily based in LA, where I've led a successful career as music artist 'EM The Master', performing my original show multiple nights a week. I lead a 5-piece band and dancers in a theatrical musical storytelling experience which has been compared to Tim Burton and Freddie Mercury.

As a singer-songwriter, I've released numerous albums and singles, my debut EP released in 2018. Hard Rock Café wrote "Em joins artists such as Tori Amos and Lady Gaga in giving a voice to those who need it most". My most recent singles were produced by GRAMMY-winner Adrian Young (No Doubt), who also features on drums.

Most recently, I performed my one-woman-musical SHOWTIME! at Edinburgh Fringe 2024, for which I wrote all the music, as well as writing the script and performing in it. “Is there anything Em Hoggett (aka EM The Master) can’t do? I have taught privately for over 10 years, and for the past number of years also been a teacher at Silverlake Conservatory of Music, Los Angeles. I work with people of all ages and all levels. Due to my varied background, I can offer a wide range of skills and like to cater my lessons to my students' specific interests and goals. I have some students focusing on songwriting, others on classical piano, others on music theory - it's all a mix!

Due to my extensive background, my emphasis on performance in my career and my experiences as a music artist, performer and songwriter, I am a unique teacher offering more than just technique. I often work with students on confidence, personal connection to music, musicality, artistry, creation, the way the self and emotion relates to the voice, performance technique and more.
