Target Peenemunde by Robert Taylor Limited Edition no. 39/1250
This print shows AVRO Lancasters of No. 83 Squadron Pathfinder Force as they climb out over the east coast of England en-route for Peenemunde. The raid took place on the warm summer evening of 17th August, 1943. The masterbomber's aircraft, seen in the forefront of Robert Taylor's painting, brilliantly navigated right over the target and made nine dangerous passes over the German secret weapon base while directing operations. The Target was to destroy the Research Establishment near Peenemunde during the 55 minute bombardment.
