A signed Artists proof 14/25 print mounted and framed. This watercolour is faded with sun damage but does not detract from the essence of the image. Part of a very limited run of only twenty-five. The feature mounts and quality frame are in very good condition.
The watercolour captures a winter scene of Durham Cathedral with bare trees in the foreground. As it stands the pale blues brings a chilly feel to this well-known local landmark.
Durham cathedral dominates any view of Durham City and rightly so. The Artist has drawn a sketch of the Cathedrals ornamental Sanctuary Knocker in pencil at the bottom left of the print together with his Signature and Artists proof 14/25 on the right, see photographs.
Described as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world it contains the remains of St Cuthbert and together with the castle one of the first British World Heritage sites.
