Rare Signed Screen Print By Richard Jennings Depicting Osterley Lane, Isleworth Dated 1985 2 of 10.

Richard Jennings is widely acknowledged to be a talented British graphic designer and photographer. Between 1975 and 1987 he worked as a graphic designer for the Inner London Education Authority. Then from 1987 to 2000 he worked, again as a graphic designer, for the London Borough Of Richmond Upon Thames. Subsequently he based himself at Adam Studios in Isleworth.

This is a private sale from a pet, smoke and Covid free home.

During the 1980’s I lived in Twickenham and purchased various items from a little gallery in Church Street – including the print being offered for sale here. (Title: “Osterley Lane”, dated 1985, numbered 2 of 10, and signed by Richard Jennings.) I was advised that he had produced very few similar prints, usually in short print runs, and that they didn’t often become available for purchase by members of the Public.

When I corresponded with Richard in 2017 he informed me that he no longer created screen prints and that sadly all the galleries in the Isleworth, Richmond and Twickenham area which used to sell his creations had closed down. This is therefore a rare opportunity to acquire one of these attractive and timeless screen prints.

The print is highly atmospheric, depicting a misty view of trees and vegetation in Osterley Lane, Isleworth, featuring beautiful pink, grey and green tints on a white background.

Overall it is in very good condition. When I lived in Twickenham the print was positioned on a wall away from sunlight, and heat sources, in a warm dry environment. When I moved a few years later the colours of the print did not fit with my new decor so I carefully packed up the print and stored it in a clean, dry, dark cupboard until recently. Although I really like the print, as it is surplus to requirements I have decided to offer it up for sale.

The print has never been removed from its original thin dark brown plain wooden frame – which has a few minor dents and chips in it, as are to be expected given its age. The frame retains its original glass – which is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.

Approximate size of frame: 50 cm high x 37 cm wide to outer edges; 47 cm high x 34.5 cm wide to inner edges.

Approximate size of printed area: 27.5 cm high x 18.5 cm wide.

Below the printed area Richard Jennings has signed his creation, numbered it as 2 of 10, dated it as 1985, and written the title: “Osterley Lane”.
