Description
Baracuta started out in Manchester, England, way back in 1937. By the 1950s, it had set up shop in the Empire State Building, giving it the opportunity to grow and flourish in the US market. During this time, the brand went by the name Four Climes, which has now been brought back for the SS23 collection.
This is a Baracuta Harrington style jacket but under the 'Four Climes' branding Baracuta adopted for their first foray into the American Market. They revived the 'Four Climes' name for a specially designed line of clothing. It's pretty hard to tell what age this jacket came from but the condition is very good apart from a small flaw inside at the base front, as in photo.
Use first photo as nearest I could get to colour. Of note is the fit. I have had many Baracuta Harrington jackets and although I'm a 40"chest normally, I wear a 44 in Baracuta Harringtons. I would suggest 36-38 for this jacket and again of note is it seems quite short.
Pit to pit: 21"
Under arm seam sleeve length: 22"
Length from lower collar seam: 23"
Another thing to note is that the zip is not the 'double' type zip and has no Baracuta branding. This jacket could possibly be quite a vintage item. The last photo is the Harrington worn by Hollywood star Dick Van Dyke and you'll notice the short length cut from a time when men wore their waistline on their trousers much higher.
