Description
Still available. I will expect genuinely serious potential buyers to
request a tryout.
In excellent condition and fully working as normal. It comes
with the case, original sustain pedal and power cable.
This is the first model released in April 2011. It has
9 sound engines, including KARMA, drum tracks,
sampling, audio recording, MIDI sequencer, and more,
supporting everything from performance to music production.
A full range of functions is included. Note that the previous
owner upgraded the SGX-1 (i.e. piano) engine to the SGX-2
engine from the version 2 workstation.
If you don't already know about this keyboard and its
capabilities, I highly recommend a Google search.
Whoever purchases this will be pleased to note how
neat it still looks. It hasn't been used much over the
years, which is why I purchased it - it's almost pristine.
I purchased this fairly recently, but quickly realised
that it's overkill for my simple needs.
This is one of the main keyboards used by the likes of
Herbie Hancock, Robert Glasper, Jordan Rudess, and
a host of other world-class keyboardists and producers.
I intended to use this for music production and to get
serious with practising piano. However, I'm more
comfortable with doing my music production via a
laptop/DAW setup, and not really willing to invest time
towards the steep learning curve to be able to quickly
navigate the keyboard and access the sounds to create
songs. The furthest I got in about a week, was pooling
all my favourite acoustic pianos, electric pianos, organs
and pads into into a Set List (very handy!).
Note that it takes about two minutes to switch on. This
is due to the fact that it has 9 engines, each dedicated
to the different sounds (e.g. acoustic pianos, electric
pianos, organs, synths, pads, strings, etc.).
It also has a 16-channel sequencer for composing songs
directly from the keyboard or linking it up to your DAW of
choice via USB connections (your DAW will see it as a VST plugin).
It has microphone input connections.
The Korg Kronos 73 has a USB Type B port for connecting
to a computer and two USB Type A ports for connecting
external storage devices like USB flash drives or hard drives.
The Type B port is used for both audio and MIDI communication
with a computer via USB 2.0.
It comes with the custom flight case, and is similar to the Thon
versions currently being sold on Thomann for £260.
I recently registered this keyboard on the Korg ID website. Note
that the original owner had updated the software a few years ago,
so it now has the piano versions from model 2. Here's the blurb:
"The Korg Kronos 2 features an upgraded piano sound engine,
SGX-2, which includes a new "Berlin Grand" soundset, modeled
string resonance, and support for soft pedal samples, unlike the
original Kronos which used the SGX-1 engine. The SGX-2 also
features 12-level velocity switching and natural, authentic decay
through un-looped stereo samples for every key."
It is straightforward to transfer ownership of the keyboard. One
just needs the keyboard ID number to register on the Korg ID
website. The keyboard ID number includes any sound library
updates that have been previously purchased. I'll obviously
close my Korg ID registration once it has been purchased.
