German Stoneware Mineral Water Bottle Victoria Brunnen Late 1800s Rustic Primitive Decor Salt Glazed Clay Bottle perfect for putting flowers in.
A mineral water bottle from Germany, probably from the late 1800s. "Salt Glazed stoneware became the dominant houseware of the United States of America from 1780 to 1890. The salt glaze is formed by throwing salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. Sodium from the salt reacts with silica in the clay body to form a glassy coating of sodium silicate, hence salt glazed.
Measure just under 12" tall and about 3 " in diameter. One has a handle one does not.
