Description
A vintage Rabone Chesterman Fibron 100ft (30m) measuring tape. There are a couple of marks on the outer casing but the tape is in excellent condition with everything still clearly readable and measures in both imperial and metric measurements. This model is now discontinued and as such makes this piece a rare collectors item. These were made in Sheffield between 1963-1990, after which Rabone was taken over by Stanley.
This belonged to my grandfather, and possibly his father before him as they were both very keen builders and DIY enthusiasts. Unfortunately I'm not so keen and have inherited such a vast number of tools that I need to move some on. These were made in a time where tools were built to last so it still has plenty of life in it. Hopefully it can go to a new home where it will be used and appreciated, rather than just sitting in the shed.
