Description
Pre-second world war. Genuine crocodile outer cover, genuine pig skin lining (with some stains - see photos).
Genuine tortoise shell toiletries. Cut glass containers, save for one.
One 800 proof silver lid, all others 925 silver proof. Jeweler - Breitanz.
The case is 65cm long, 40cm wide and 19cm deep. It weighs 10.5kg.
Initially belonged to a very affluent family, "von Zedlitz"- many pages on google about where they came from, their real-estates over the centuries, now living in Wiesbaden, Germany. They were customers of my Father's cabinet/joiners business, who gave that case to my mother in the nineteen seventies.
A similar item at "Asprey", London in the mid nineteen eighties with gold toppings was for sale at £20 000 (DM 80 000).
A much smaller black leather leather vanity case, contents incomplete, was recently bought during a German TV programme = ZDF "Bare fuer Rates"; for 20 000 euros by a female auctioneer.
