CRANEFLY … DADDY LONG LEGS
Tied on Veniard ‘Osprey’ fly hooks size 10. Size 12 tied to order with a minimum of 3 flies.
Detached ‘biscuit’ colour ethafoam body. Six double knotted cock pheasant tail fibres, hackle point wings, cock hackle thorax. Some patterns books suggest 8 legs to allow for breakages.
Six legs 75p and 8 legs 80p. Veniard pre-tied legs are £3.99 for a packet of 50 (8p each) at a Glasgow tackle shop but I tie my own.
Weighted version. Veniard long shank Osprey hooks size 8. Weighted underbody. Wool body, hackle point wings and 6 or 8 legs tied to order 75p and 80p.
