Mahogany Chip Carved Octagon Top on Bobbin Turned Legs
with under shelf, circa 1890's.
We are delighted to offer this gorgeous antique English made Arts & Crafts period gypsy table. This piece would have originally been retailed at Liberty's of London. A late 19th Century period Arts & Crafts lamp table in fabulous untouched condition. The Arts & Crafts movement was a design & decorative arts movement that originated in Britain in the late 19th century, advocating for a return to handcraftsmanship & opposing mass production. It emphasized the value of well-made, beautiful objects, often inspired by nature and medieval aesthetics, & aimed to create a harmonious balance between art & daily life. This table has an octagon hand chip carved top with octagonal under shelf, mounted to bobbin & collar turned legs. Eight individually designed carved medallion roundels boardering a star carved center. Constructed from deep red Mahogany woods. This pretty little side table comes direct from a recent estate sale & is sold in superb as found antique condition. Some delightful age related surface scuffs & one minor corner edge dink, all which of just adds to it's antique period charm. Please study the pictures for more details. Overall a fabulous wood surface patination in excellent display usable solid condition. It's been properly cleaned, polished & so is now ready to use, love & enjoy. It's style & design would date this piece nicely to the late 19th Century period, circa 1890's.
