A VERY ATTRACTIVE, LATE 20th CENTURY, CARVED OAK, SLIPPER / SEWING BOX, OF EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY AND CONDITION. THIS FABULOUS SLIPPER BOX IS ENGLISH MADE BY ONE OF THE LEADING FURNITURE MANUFACTURERS IN TODAY'S MARKET PLACE. IT IS THE FAMOUS 'WOOD BROTHERS' 'OLD CHARM' FURNITURE COMPANY, OF LONDON ROAD, WARE, HERTS, ENGLAND. THE SLIPPER BOX IS PART OF THE VERY POPULAR 'OLD CHARM' RANGE, MODEL No.2034. IT HAS ATTRACTIVE OAK-WOOD GRAINING THROUGH-OUT AND WOULD SIT NICELY WITH OTHER MATCHING 'OLD CHARM' ITEMS OF FURNITURE. THE SLIPPER BOX HAS A SMALL FLAT TOP, WHICH HAS TRADITIONAL MOULDED 'THUMB-NAIL' EDGES. IT RETAINS IT'S ORIGINAL STEEL 'STRAP HINGES', WHICH ARE FIXED TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE LID. THE SLIPPER BOX TOP LIFTS TO REVEAL A VERY USEFUL OAK LINED INTERIOR, MAKING IT IDEAL FOR USE AS A SEWING BOX. THE SIDES AND ENDS OF THE BOX ARE DECORATED WITH THE 'OLD CHARM' 'WHEATSHEAF' MOTIF CARVING. THE SLIPPER BOX STANDS ON ATTRACTIVE, 'RING-TURNED', OAK LEGS, RAISED UPON TRADITIONAL BLOCKED FEET, WITH ADDITIONAL STURDY STRETCHERS AT THE BASE, FOR ADDED STRENGTH AND SUPPORT.
