Unusually Large, Genuine hand knotted Afghan deep red and black Rug, 4.95 by 3.75 metres
Southside, Glasgow
£1,950
Description
A lovely original hand knotted wool carpet from the Aqcha region of Northern Afghanistan.
This is very large indeed and rare for a carpet of this type, it measures 4.95 by 3.75 metres, (over 16 by 12 feet). The colour is a rich and warm red and black. It is suitable for the largest of rooms. I believe it is a traditional elephants foot pattern.
Condition is good reflecting how hard wearing these carpets are. One fringe has had more wear than the other as shown in the photos. Some of the photos had to be taken outside as, having downsized, the carpet is too large for our present house! The photos were taken on a partially sunny day and give a good impression of how the carpet looks fully opened out.
It is located in Glasgow at Lancefield Quay, near the Clyde Arc (Squinty) bridge on the north side of the river Clyde. Lancefield Quay, a modern block of flats facing the river, has its main entrance on Elliot Street at the riverside end. The carpet can be carefully folded for transit, but is a substantial item. Although not a business, I can accept credit cards for this item.
If you require a beautiful, very large hand made carpet please come and view. A carpet of this type and quality and condition in this size is very rarely available!
