Description

This is a brand-new CU Medical Systems i-PAD NF1200 new generation ‘speaking’, Wi-Fi-enabled and portable AED defibrillator.

The AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is designed to be used by anyone, with or without first aid knowledge (i-PAD stands for Intelligent Public Access Defibrillator). It is one of the new-generation of fully automated ‘intelligent’ ‘speaking’ defibrillators, ie the moment the user opens the cover the unit gives simple instructions, both visual and spoken (verbal), guiding the user through the process; and it is the device (ie not the user) that analyses if-and-when a person needs defibrillation.

This AED is highly portable as it has a carry handle, and a very compact (32cm x 22cm x 8cm) and lightweight (2.2kg) design.

The company I work for recently bought three of these AEDs after one of its employees died from SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest). Eventually it became clear that two AEDs were sufficient and one should be sold off—with the proceeds going to the the cardiac charity SADS UK.

The AEDs were purchased from Skanwear for £1,760+VAT = £2,112 each (go to their skanwear com website and search for product code ‘swt002’). £675 represents a 2/3 discount off the original purchasing price.

OTHER FEATURES
- ECG Analysis System: the system determines the impedance of the patient and evaluates the ECG of the patient to determine whether it is shockable or non-shockable
- Data Storage: the first 40 minutes of ECG and the entire incident’s events and analysis decisions are stored on the system
- Data Transfer: wireless transmission of event data to a PC is possible through its IrDA port
- Disposable Battery Pack: the battery capacity is at least 200 shocks or 8 hours of operating time

Further technical information can be found in the manual which is easily found on—and downloaded from— the internet, eg from manualslib (just google: CU Medical Systems NF1200 manual).

Collection is from Bayswater London W2 (click on ‘Map’ button just above the Images gallery).
