Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!
We got this from a Brocante at Marquion in the Nord region and have used it as a cloakroom mirror.
It is an attractively aged mirror dating to around the 1930s which has a hardwood frame with a gilded trim and a nicely foxed bevel edged mirror.
Surprisingly heavy, the frame has what I think is a decorative wood stain and varnish which shows a slightly gilded shimmer, a gilded inner edge and an art deco ridged outer trim.
It has what appears to be the original mirror plate, possibly mercury glass judging by the deep reflection of a coin placed on it, which is worn and foxed but has a nice patina and is still reflective.
Shabby but still sound it makes a great decorative piece.
In good sound antique condition with wear, knocks and foxing to the glass - please examine photos carefully for condition.
Solid and sound with no structural damage.
The wood appears to have been thickly varnished and is now worn, stained and aged with the odd chip but still rigid.
No noticeable woodworm.
The joints are worn but sound - see photos.
To the rear is a thin sliver of wooden backing which is worn, wrinkled and stained - see photos.
The mirror appears to be original and has wear and foxing but is secure and sound.
I believe it to be mercury glass and it passes the coin reflection test - see photos.
It is just a little loose in the frame but reasonably secure.
There is a hanging loop to hang vertically but this could also be hung horizontally.
Marked faintly to the rear with some writing in pencil that is illegible to me.

37 cm tall by 31 cm wide point to point,
29.5 cm by 23.5 cm visible mirror plate,
about 1.5 cm thick (frame),
Weighs about 1.6 kg.
