Transport Planner Wanted

Join Our Team as a Transport Planner Drive Efficiency, Ensure Compliance, and Deliver Excellence!

The Recruitment Group are acting as a recruitment business on behalf of our client in coleshill, who due to recent growth are expanding their transport division. Are you a methodical, customer–focused professional with a passion for logistics and operational efficiency? We're looking for a proactive and well–organised Transport Planner to join our clients Transport and Compliance teams. In this role, you ll help shape the daily success of our transport operations, using in–house systems to plan cost–effective routes, coordinate with key stakeholders, and maintain legal compliance at every turn.

Working Hours: 10:00am–19:00pm Monday to Friday (30 minute lunch break) some flexibility is required for annual leave cover .

Job Role: Create efficient, compliant, and cost–effective transport plans using our systems.

Collaborate with drivers, customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth daily operations.

Record transport activity including quotes, bookings, and manifests.

Support vehicle utilisation and identify backload opportunities with fellow planners.

Brief and debrief drivers thoroughly, ensuring they understand customer and company expectations.

Carry out daily remote driver welfare checks and manage company equipment handovers.

Monitor fuel usage, tolls, and parking costs, flagging any concerns.

Track driver performance and identify ways to increase efficiency and profitability.

Ensure full compliance with regulations including EU Drivers Hours, Working Time Directive, FORS, and company policies.

Work closely with the Fleet Compliance team to manage and maintain a safe and legal operation.

Maintain accurate job records for invoicing and KPI analysis.

Experience: Experience:

Traffic management and general haulage/groupage experience required

Pallet network planning and National CPC are a plus

Skills:

Strong customer service and communication skills

Intermediate MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

High attention to detail and accuracy

Aptitude:

Can do attitude with a logical, problem–solving mindset

Flexible, adaptable, and confident under pressure

Organised and able to manage multiple priorities

Proactive, self–motivated, and focused on continuous improvement
