Hours: Monday–Friday, PM Shift
Contract: Permanent | Full-time
Industry: Food Manufacturing
A large, well-established food manufacturing business in the Coventry area is expanding its engineering function and is looking to appoint a Technical Operator. This role acts as the key bridge between Production and Engineering, helping keep lines running safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
Key responsibilities
* Provide first-line maintenance in response to machinery breakdowns, escalating to Engineering when required.
* Liaise closely with Production and Engineering on Continuous Improvement (CI) projects, contributing ideas and actions that reduce downtime and waste.
* Complete basic adjustments, changeovers and condition checks to maintain asset performance.
* Carry out routine checks/first-line PPM tasks and update records (e.g., CMMS).
* Communicate clearly across shifts and departments, ensuring smooth handovers and collaborative problem solving.
* Adhere to H&S, food safety, and GMP standards at all times.
What we’re looking for
* Experience in a fast-paced FMCG/food or manufacturing environment in a Technical Operator/Line Technician/Multiskilled Operative role.
* Solid hands-on skills with mechanical/electrical first-line fault finding and the safe use of tools.
* Ability to read and follow work instructions/SOPs; CMMS familiarity is a plus.
* CI mindset (e.g., 5S, basic Lean tools) and a proactive, collaborative approach.
* Strong communicator who can build relationships across Production and Engineering.
