Technical Coordinator
Technical Coordinator Role Overview:
The Technical Coordinator provides guidance on scientific, technical, and legislative matters, primarily supporting the site in understanding current food safety legislation and packaging requirements.
This role plays a crucial part in ensuring all products are safe for consumption and appropriately labelled in line with legal standards. This includes the accurate presentation of allergen and nutritional information, relevant warnings, and suitable artwork on product packaging.
Technical Coordinator Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure that all product labelling complies with food safety legislation.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of allergen declarations, nutritional content, warning statements, and relevant packaging artwork requirements.
* Communicate labelling and food safety requirements to bakery staff in a clear and accessible manner.
* Work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure products are compliant and market-ready.
* Provide support to the Technical Manager and deputise in the absence of the Quality Manager.
* Ensure high standards of quality and food safety are consistently maintained and improved across departments.
* Contribute to new product development by providing technical feedback.
* Ensure all new and promotional products meet regulatory and safety requirements before release.
* Manage specification-related projects, ensuring timely and prioritised delivery.
* Act as a point of contact for technical queries from colleagues, auditors, and visitors regarding product packaging, food standards, and quality assessment.
* Assess products to advise on shelf life, nutritional value, and compliance with technical standards.
* Compile technical reports, maintain accurate records, perform data analysis, and investigate any variances.
* Develop and update technical databases and spreadsheets.
* Report any safety breaches to management promptly.
* Actively promote and adhere to the company’s health and safety policies, ensuring personal and colleague safety at all times.
Technical Coordinator Person Specification
* Minimum of one year’s experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of baking processes is advantageous.
* Proficient in using computers and open to learning new software.
* Confident and knowledgeable in HACCP principles.
* Educated to GCSE level.
