Description

Saw Operator / Wood Machinist

Location: Barking

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am – 4pm

Salary: 25,000 – 31,000 (Depending on Experience)

Reports to: Mill Manager

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled Saw Operator / Wood Machinist to join our client's growing production team in Barking. This hands–on role involves operating a variety of saws and woodworking machinery to produce high–quality timber components to exact specifications.

You'll be responsible for setup, operation, and basic maintenance of equipment, working both independently and collaboratively to meet daily production targets. If you're precise, reliable, and take pride in craftsmanship, we'd like to hear from you.

Training will be provided for candidates who show potential but lack prior experience.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and maintain various woodworking machines, including:

– Band saws, circular saws, multi–rip saws

– Moulders (e.g., Powermat), spindle moulders, and cube machines

Accurately measure and cut wood to specified dimensions

Perform basic machine maintenance and minor repairs

Ensure all safety procedures are followed at all times

Work to production schedules and quality standardsCollaborate with the team to improve processes and meet output goalsWhat We're Looking For

1–2 years' experience in a wood machining or sawing role preferred

Ability to read measurements and technical specifications accurately

Good math and problem–solving skills

Strong attention to detail and quality

Reliable team player with a proactive attitude

Commitment to safe working practicesNote: Candidates without prior experience are welcome to apply – training will be provided.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and handle heavy timber safely

Comfortable standing and working for long periods

Tolerance to a busy, loud workshop environment
