Description

Quality Manager

Location: Newark

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Type: Full–time, Permanent

Salary: 38,000 – 61,000 DOE

A well–established animal by–product processing business – supplying bulk proteins and fats to leading names in the pet food and biofuels sectors – is looking to appoint a Quality Manager at their Newark facility. This is a key leadership role supporting the ongoing investment and growth of the site.

You'll lead a small, experienced compliance and lab team and be responsible for driving site–wide quality systems, regulatory compliance, HACCP, audits, and continuous improvement. The business needs someone who's proactive, detail–driven, and confident engaging at all levels – from lab technicians to auditors and operations directors.

What You'll Be Doing:

Lead and develop the Quality Compliance Officers and Laboratory Assistants

Own and maintain HACCP and Quality Management Systems across the site

Ensure compliance with legal, customer and feed safety standards (including GMP+)

Drive the closure of non–conformances and proactively manage internal and customer audits

Monitor FOSS system compliance and lab equipment performance

Manage product testing schedules and act on out–of–spec results

Champion continual improvement projects that reduce risk and drive KPIs

Oversee pest control, calibration, and documentation standards

Collaborate with site managers to share best practices and align standards

Keep up to date with relevant legislation and cascade updates across teams

Support the SHEQ team with SOPs, risk assessments, and H&S integration

Conduct PDRs, manage team development, and drive performance culture

What We're Looking For:

Experience in a similar quality management role within manufacturing, preferably food/feed or industrial processing

Strong knowledge of HACCP, QMS, and internal auditing practices

Proven people management experience and ability to develop a team

Strong communication skills and confidence leading audits and liaising with regulatory bodies

High attention to detail and proactive mindset – you spot problems before they happen

IT literate (MS Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Familiar with calibration systems, lab testing, and quality metrics reporting

Transport is essential due to the rural site location

What's On Offer:

40,000 – 61,000 salary depending on experience

33 days holiday, increasing with service

Company pension scheme

Enhanced sick pay scheme

Life assurance

Electric Vehicle salary sacrifice scheme + discounted onsite charging

Cycle to work scheme

Free parking

Onsite Occupational Health support

Employee Assistance Programme – 24/7 confidential support

Retail, restaurant and gym discounts

Access to external financial wellbeing and education support

300 referral bonus if you introduce a successful candidate

How to Apply:

Interviews are being scheduled now. Please apply with your CV and be prepared to discuss your experience in:

Managing or working with HACCP and QMS

Leading or participating in internal audits

Managing quality teams in a manufacturing or regulated environment

Please note: Due to the rural location, access to your own transport is essential. This is a fully site–based role.
