Design Engineer Hours Benefits
* £36,000 - £38,000, negotiable dependant on experience
* 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday
* 23 days holiday, increasing with service, plus statutory, Life Assurance, Profit related pay
Commutable From: Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Chesterfield, Sheffield
Design Engineer Role Function
The Design Engineer will play a vital part in designing and documenting high-quality products.
You’ll develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), create installation/user manuals, and produce 3D models and detailed technical drawings to support the fabrication, installation and production teams.
Design Engineer Candidate Requirements
* SolidWorks (3D CAD) proficiency and the ability to produce manufacturing-ready models and drawings.
* Working knowledge of BS8888 & ISO128 drawing standards.
* Familiar with manufacturing techniques (e.g. machining, bending, pressing, vacuum forming, etc.).
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills (8D, 5 Whys, etc.).
* Confident liaising with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Experienced in creating training materials, SOPs, or process documents.
* Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Degree (or equivalent) in a technical, mechanical, or design discipline.
Design Engineer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)
* Design and create 3D models for new products using SolidWorks.
* Develop comprehensive SOPs, work instructions, and user/installation manuals.
* Maintain documentation to support production, training, and installation teams.
* Create illustrated parts catalogues for use across all departments.
* Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and FMEA documentation processes.
* Liaise cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams.
* Assist in implementing improvements to streamline manufacturing processes.
* Collaborate with other departments to efficiently manage technical enquiries.
* Support a strong H&S and compliance culture through consistent documentation.
