Stapleford, Nottinghamshire
£180
Description
LARGE VINTAGE WALDMANN LEUCHTEN WORKSHOP LAMP, TYPE STK 215, GERMAN INDUSTRIAL ARTICULATING LAMP, 88cm tall, 48cm shade length, 11kg - GERMAN 1960s MID CENTURY
WILL POST - I can post this for £19 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).
Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!
We got this at a vide maison in Reims, Champagne, where it had been used as a workshop lamp since the 1980s, intending to re-wire it but never got around to it.
Waldmann is a well known German manufacturer of industrial lighting and produced this lamp from the late 1950s.
Apparently this one originally came from a factory in Troyes.
It appears to be a particularly sought after model due to its size and weight - 11 kg!
In working, vintage, used condition with wear, splits, and scratches consistent with its age and use - please examine photos carefully for condition.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an old vintage lamp with French wiring. Although working it has not and will not be tested prior to sale and re-wiring it for UK use is necessary.
In sound working order but with European wiring and plug so needs re-wiring.
The surfaces are in a worn but sound condition.
The base is heavy and sound with some rust to the bottom.
It is attached to the lamp by four screws which are rusted but not seized.
There is a ball and socket joint to the lower arm which allows articulation of the arm both rotational and forwards/backwards. In order to adjust this two screws either side need to be loosened and then tightened to fix in the required position - see photos.
The cable enters the lower arm to the rear and appears in good condition.
Note: the wiring is old but appears in fair condition with a French plug. In order to show the lamp working it has been lit using a French to English plug adapter which is not included.
The upper arm is in tarnished and rusted chrome but is sound - see photos.
The joint articulates in a forwards/backwards motion and the tightness adjusts by nuts at the joint - see photos.
The rectangular shade is attached by another ball and socket joint which allows articulation of the shade both rotational and forwards/backwards. The tightness adjusts by two screws to the rear of the joint - see photos.
NOTE: The plastic shade is worn with a split to the rear but secure and sound - see photos
The on off switch is on the top of the shade and works well.
In order to turn on the white button needs pressing for 1-2 seconds.
The brown button turns off.
The exterior of the white plastic light diffuser is in good condition but has one melt point, presumably from touching something hot - see photos.
As the burn is on the outside I believe this to be a contact burn rather than an electrical fault but please have the lamp tested.
There are two strip fluorescent bulbs which currently work.
Note: these bulbs will be included but they are prone to damage in transit so I do not guarantee they will arrive intact. New bulbs are readily available in that instance.
