Description
Offering my 80-200 L lens for sale due to the fact that I'm not using it much these days (and I have at least one other vintage lens covering this range).
Originally introduced in 1985, this was one of the last 'L' series (professional lenses) manufactured for the FD mount system before the subsequent switch to the EF mount. This is a manual lens.
Please note, this lens will NOT fit onto any Canon with the EF (or later) mounts without an adapter.
I use this lens exclusively on a modern, Sony Digital full frame camera with an inexpensive adapter where the renowned quality of the lens shines through. Several photos attached; three of which have been taken using the 'Macro' function on the lens.
Reasonably priced adapters are also widely available to enable this lens to be used on a wide range of mirror-less digital cameras from most manufacturers (not just Canon).
And of course, it fits any Canon FD mount film camera, too.
I have lots of technical information available if needed. Briefly; 8 aperture blades, 14 lens elements in 12 groups, closest focus is 1.2m, front filter 58mm. Comes with BT58 lens hood and although not in the photos, I have a (non original) lens case.
In the past, I have been lucky enough to own a modern Canon L series zoom and I have to say that in terms of image quality, my 80-200L is right up there.
I consider overall condition to be very good for its age.
Example photos taken with the lens available upon request.
I have other well cared for vintage lenses available if you are looking for a different focal length.
Collection only from near Stroud, Gloucestershire or for those much further away, I’d be happy to consider a meet up somewhere in the area. I occasionally travel to Wiltshire, so a meet up along the M4 corridor might also prove possible.
Thanks for looking.
