Shea quoted for a big job - he made a few suggestions. Most of which were completely run of the mill. He eventually committed to a date to do the work - some way off. He took a large deposit. His quote was all over the - not clear at all. I tidied it up and even corrected something that saved him money - he misread that and accused me of trying to add some money on. He really is all over the place. Then four days before job was dues he rang me very early in the morning and left a message about 'having to go into hospital for a procedure... he could reschedule but it would be a long long way off.' all absolute b******s obviously. He didn't want to do the job (the quote was a bit low i think) - but he kept us hanging on for months. Also he woudn't return the 'consultation fee' - 250 quid for some very basic ideas or his 'Garden Plan' as he called it. He claimed to have spent 9 hours on it... more nonsense. approach with caution.

Good first impression with Shea - seemed to have a lot of knowledge and was patient in explaining items required for my garden. I contracted Shea to mulch out a couple of borders for my front and rear garden. He also scarcified and overseeded my front lawn anf planted an olive tree. Unfortunately, the olive tree he planted was smaller than what was agreed so I had to buy one myself which he then planted. The front lawn ended up with so many weeds it's not even a lawn anymore. It transpires that Autumn is the right time to have done it and not spring - not something Shea was aware of as he didn't tell me. All the areas Shea mulched has grass growing now and the best advise he had was to hand pull out the grass or remove all the mulch and then remove the grass. I also have lots of brambles growing which has started to take over the garden. Overall, not happy at all. I paid Shea to reduce my workload for gardening and have a low maintenance garden but I have ended up with quite the opposite. She is friendly and easy to get along with but I haven't seen positive results. I was also unhappy with the scope/price discrepancy as I felt he didn't do a lot of what was agreed to verbally.

Shea offered the most reasonably priced, flexible and meticulous gardening service I have experienced. I was spoilt and will find him near impossible to replace now that he has moved to the other side of the country. My loss, some other lucky sod's gain in Cornwall...
