Description
Presented in deep Oxford Blue with just 69,017 miles and a full restoration behind it, this 1968 Jaguar 340 is a beautiful example of the final evolution of Jaguar’s legendary Mark II. Fitted with the 3.4-litre XK engine, manual gearbox with factory overdrive, and benefitting from an extensive multi-year restoration, this is a car that delivers as beautifully as it looks.
The Jaguar 340 was the last of the line — a refined and subtly updated version of the iconic Mk2 saloon. Its slimmer bumpers, improved lighting and simplified badging gave it a more modern, understated look, while retaining the heart and soul of Jaguar’s golden-era sporting saloon. This particular example has undergone a full and detailed restoration, including a bare-metal respray in 2015, and presents today in excellent condition throughout.
Over the course of the restoration, no corner was cut. The body was stripped and refinished in Oxford Blue, with the wheels professionally refurbished to match. Mechanically, it has received a new clutch, rebuilt brakes and suspension, and a replacement fuel tank. Inside, the car has been retrimmed with new carpets and headlining, along with a new rear screen — all fitted to a high standard that reflects the care and attention it’s received over the years.
On the road, the combination of the 3.4-litre engine and overdrive gearbox makes for an engaging yet relaxed driving experience, with long-legged cruising capability and that unmistakable Jaguar straight-six soundtrack. It’s the kind of classic that turns heads without needing to shout — refined, elegant, and unmistakably British.
With its strong history, low mileage and recent investment in restoration, this Jaguar is not just a beautiful car — it’s a credible investment in one of the great post-war saloons. Whether you’re adding to a collection, looking for an events car, or simply want to enjoy the richness of classic motoring, this 340 is ready to be appreciated from day one.
