Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2025 - Collectors' Cars on Saturday the 23rd of August, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN. , Introduced in late 1967, the Series 1.5 Jaguar E-Type marked a subtle but important evolution of one of the most iconic sports cars of the 20th century. Bridging the stylistic purity of the Series I with some of the practical refinements of the upcoming Series 2, these transitional models retained much of the original design’s visual appeal, including the faired-in headlamps, slim bumpers and classic tail treatment, while benefiting from mechanical upgrades that improved reliability and drivability.Powered by Jaguar’s 4.2-litre straight-six engine, the Series 1.5 produced strong performance figures, with improved torque delivery and refinement. A fully synchromesh gearbox, independent suspension all round and disc brakes contributed to the E-Type’s reputation as both a grand tourer and a true driver’s car. Inside, subtle updates were made to the dashboard layout and seating while retaining the charm and elegance of earlier interiors. This particular Fixed Head Coupé was delivered new by Henley’s of London in 1967 and is finished in its factory-correct shade of Opalescent Maroon with a black leather interior. A UK-supplied, right-hand drive example, it has recently benefitted from a cosmetic restoration, including a professional repaint in its original colour. The interior has been carefully preserved in as-original condition, now displaying a lovely patina that speaks to years of careful and considered use. The car is accompanied by an excellent and well-documented history file, with invoices dating back to the 1970s. These records provide clear evidence of regular maintenance and long-term enthusiast ownership. It is evident that this example has been cherished throughout its life, with custodians committed to preserving its character and originality.Combining factory-correct presentation with a light restoration and strong provenance, this Series 1.5 E-Type represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire one of the most celebrated British sports cars of all time. Whether added to a Collection or enjoyed on the open road, it offers all the beauty and mechanical integrity that made the E-Type an enduring classic.
