Senior Infrastructure Engineer – 8 month - £200 p/day inside IR35 – East Sussex

Overview

I am currently recruiting for a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join my client who are a global consultancy. This is a key role providing high-quality 2nd and 3rd line support for critical infrastructure across multiple healthcare sites in East Sussex. You’ll contribute to vital IT services that directly support patient care, ensuring infrastructure stability, performance, and availability across acute and community healthcare environments.

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex technical projects such as domain migrations, server architecture enhancements, and infrastructure upgrades. You'll also play an active role in mentoring junior staff and contributing to service improvement across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support for the Trust’s network, servers, and infrastructure systems

Lead on domain migration activities, including Active Directory configuration, security validation, and testing

Manage configuration, installation, repair, and maintenance of high-value ICT equipment and systems

Monitor and improve system performance, availability, and scalability across core infrastructure

Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve complex IT incidents using sound diagnostic skills and structured processes

Maintain accurate and timely records in the call logging system

Liaise with third-party vendors and support providers to resolve issues and implement improvements

Contribute to project scoping, documentation, testing, and delivery of infrastructure solutions

Provide technical documentation, user training, and expert advice to colleagues and stakeholders

Stay up to date with developments in server, networking, and cloud technologies, aligning improvements

Provide supervision and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff as required

Skills and Experience Required

Significant experience in an IT support environment at 2nd and 3rd line level

Strong knowledge of VMware, Active Directory, and domain migrations

Good understanding of enterprise wireless infrastructure, LAN/WAN networking, and server technologies

Hands-on experience configuring switches (e.g., Alcatel), installing hardware, and imaging systems

Ability to support applications and manage upgrades to Microsoft environments

Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to document technical procedures clearly

Familiarity with call logging systems and working within defined service level agreements (SLAs)

Experience working in regulated or healthcare environments is advantageous
