Job Title: Behaviour Lead & Designated Safeguarding Lead

Location: Syon Manor College, Isleworth, London, TW7 5AJ

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Mon–Wed: 8:30am–4:30pm | Thu–Fri: 8:30am–4:00pm

Salary: From £36,000 per annum – salary negotiable based on experience

Are you an experienced pastoral or safeguarding professional looking to take the next step in your career? Do you have a passion for supporting neurodivergent young people and ensuring they thrive in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment?

We are seeking a Behaviour Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join Syon Manor College, a specialist post-16 provision for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs.

This is a vital leadership role in the college’s pastoral and safeguarding structure — offering the chance to truly influence the wellbeing, safety, and development of the students we support.

What You’ll Be Doing

Pastoral Leadership & Behaviour Support

Provide day-to-day pastoral care to students, including support with self-esteem, attendance, and behaviour

Lead the college’s behaviour strategy and de-escalation interventions, ensuring consistent and therapeutic approaches

Line manage the pastoral support team, ensuring student needs are met effectively across the college

Analyse pastoral and behaviour data to inform targeted interventions

Designated Safeguarding Lead

Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Isleworth campus, responding to concerns and ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation

Work closely with the Deputy DSL team and wider safeguarding network across multiple sites

Liaise with external agencies, parents/carers, and staff to ensure appropriate support and intervention

Collaboration & Leadership

Meet weekly with the Senior Leadership Team to review student needs and pastoral priorities

Lead or support staff training on safeguarding, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing

Develop student voice across the college and actively involve learners in shaping their environment

What We’re Looking For

Significant experience working with young people with ASD or challenging behaviours

Previous safeguarding experience (DSL certification or willingness to complete Level 5 DSL training)

Experience in managing behaviour and leading on de-escalation and support strategies

Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and confidence in working with multiple stakeholders

Knowledge of KCSIE, safeguarding legislation, and multi-agency working

Basic IT skills and confidence in using data to inform practice

Experience leading a team or managing performance is highly desirable

A relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g. Supporting Teaching & Learning) is desirable

Syon Manor College is a new post-16 provision for young people with autism and complex needs. The college will offer a broad curriculum of academic, vocational and life skills learning including BTECs, GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN accreditations which will work towards Employability or Independence and Duke of Edinburgh qualifications.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
