Description

Long clock made by Thomas Worswick of Lancaster. He made clocks from the 1750s until his death in 1804, so this clock is approximately 250 years old, give or take about 25 years.

The clock is approximately 94 inches tall, 20 inches wide, and 10 inches deep. A few small bits of the case have come off; we have them. There is a small crack in the right-hand side of the brass half-circle above the clock face, and a small crack in the glass pane of the hood. The clock will benefit from a careful cleaning and some cosmetic repairs by someone who knows how to do such things. With just a little effort, this would be a stunning antique clock -- and it works!

The clock (including the date wheel) is running well with only one minor issue; the snail wheel seems to get stuck at the 8 o'clock hour for the remainder of the 12-hour cycle, so the clock chimes 8 times at 9, 10, 11, and 12 o'clock as well as at 8 o'clock. Chiming at 1 o'clock through 7 o'clock works properly. Someone who knows something about these clock movements will easily resolve that.

You have to pick it up and take it away.

A much smaller Thomas Worswick clock in better overall cosmetic condition recently sold at auction for £4800. Make us an offer.
