Description
Wedgwood Jasperware Green small round trinket box. Fine art porcelain.
Vintage/Antique. Collectable.
Neoclassical scene on the lid in white relief. Cupid as Oracle.
The sacrifice to Cupid in the capacity of an oracle (cupid stands behind a mask at an altar while two figures make a sacrificial offering to him).
Circular edge decorated with a white acanthus leaf garland in relief.
Fluted sides define the base all the way around.
Nice clean piece, no chips or cracks.

Wedgwood's best known product is Jasperware, created to look like ancient Roman cameo glass. The most popular jasperware colour has always been Wedgwood blue; (a darker shade is sometimes called Portland Blue), but there are many colour variations of Jasperware, including sage green.
