Description
1955 Ekco Model U243/1 valve radio with wooden case
Very atmospheric with the amber glow of the light coming through the glass case, ideal for late night listening in a darkened space
42cm long
19cm deep
35cm high
Tuning dial has some resistance when trying to tune all the way across but picks up several channels clearly on all settings (3 wavelengths inc MW)
Green tuning eye for extra visual effect
wooden cabinet has some minor chips
sound comes out clearly and with a nice deep rich quality which fills the room
Ideal theatre film TV prop or man cave / home bar accessory
Wavechange knob at side operates indicator on the Dial scale
Tone preset adjustment at the rear, like a TV preset control.
Screw knob at rear to turn off internal speaker (external speaker option even though a live chassis)
This UK model introduced the same year as the start of UK VHF-FM, which unlike 1949 Germany only duplicated MW-AM services.
VHF: 87 ... 100MHz
