Description
1) A CHILD'S GARDEN OF VERSES. By Robert Louis Stevenson. Charming illustrations by Hilda Boswell, who also wrote children’s books. Undated, but believe published, by Collins, in the 1960s 1970s. Hardback. Spine perfect. In excellent, clean condition, see photos. No inscription.
2) MOTHER GOOSE. Illustrated by Kate Greenaway. Published by Frederick Warne & Co. Hardback. Publication date unknown. Looks like a well-used, early copy, if not a late 19th century first edition. Final page reads: Engraved and printed by Edmund Evans Ltd at the Racquet Court Press, London SE, which could be an indication of the publication date. Repair to some pages and green cloth spine is weak, see photos. Inscription inside front cover. Pocket size. Footnote: Edmund Evans was a Victorian wood-engraver and colour printer. He collaborated with illustrators such as Walter Crane, Randolph Caldecott and Richard ‘Dickie Bird’ Doyle, as well as Kate Greenaway to produce their famous classic children’s books.
3) PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN. By Robert Browning. With illustrations by Kate Greenaway. Paperback. Replica copy of the original 1888 hardback. Published by Merrimack Publishing Corporation of New York. Used, but no missing pages. Inscription, dated 1977, inside front cover. See photos for condition.
All three volumes sold as seen. From a pet and smoke-free home.
