Description
Stunning Henry 8th gold hammered full one sovereign, 1541, second coinage, 15.01 grams. NGC graded extremely fine details, these don't book past very fine condition, book for very fine is £55,000 which will jump year by year. Ex mount. Certified by Spink of London as being the only die to come up in near 80 years of cataloguing, so unique. More remarkable is that Spink also certify a wording error. Pictures do not do this coin justice, it is simply incredible, huge, a coin never to be available again, a concrete investment. These largest denomination pieces were incredibly rare at the time of minting, and were soon melted down when withdrawn. Remarkable that this 482 year old coin exists. None rare die coins sell quickly for 65k plus, as per photos.
Offered for £32,995, part exchange possible. Coin can be delivered personally, possibly same day. Collection or postage welcome. I have provenance dating back to 1986, mainly Spink of London. I have full title of this coin. Price will rise accordingly so no silly offers. I have personally delivered three of my coins in the past month to the South Coast, all happy with their purchases.
This coin is 100 on the numista rarity index.
Also available, a stunning 1692 William and Mary Five Guinea gold piece in my other listings, another rare largest denomination piece, problem free and simply stunning.
Also available, a rare Charles 1st 'fine work' gold hammered unite, only a few are known to exist with the last making almost 40k Inc fees in Spink of Londons December 2022 auction.
Coming soon, Henry 8th half sovereign and a Edward 6th one sovereign with only 8 known.
