Description
A beautiful vintage (early 1980's) stackable Japanese two-tier lacquer jyubako bento box - Traditional black and red lacquer with hand painted decorations of fans, cherry blossoms, flowers and foliage - In Japan this kind of multi layer box is used to serve special dishes "osechi" at special celebrations or for special guests - Each tier contains 4 removable dishes and allows to create more servings, it is rare for the small internal dishes to be removable - The box has never being used for its purpose, it was only displayed as an ornament and this explains its pristine condition! - It could be used to store jewellery, sewing bits....Dimensions: H12 x 24 x 24 cm (4 3/4 x 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches) - Weight 2 kg - Very decorative!
