GEORGIAN STYLE SHEFFIELD PEWTER TANKARD SCROLL HANDLE FAIRY LIQUID 1960-1978

Description

This tankard is made in Sheffield, England of the finest pewter. It has a Georgian style curved shape with decorative scroll handle. The front of the tankard is engraved with the words "Fairy Liquid 1960-1978" and an image of the Fairy Liquid baby logo. The back of the tankard is plain.

Fairy Liquid was launched in 1960 leveraging on the strength of the 'Fairy' brand established by Thomas Hedley Soap Manufacturers in Newcastle from the early 1900s. With the famous Nanette Newman advertising jingle "Now hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face with mild green Fairy Liquid", Fairy Liquid became the no. 1 brand for washing up liquid. P & G, which purchased Thomas Hedley in 1927, commemorated the success of the brand by awarding senior sales managers this tankard to celebrate its first 18 years - a collector's piece of history.

The tankard is in excellent condition, no dents, some very minor blemishes (see photos). From a smoke and pet free home.
