Description
Fisher Saw Tuner Anvil With Stand From
Fisher & Norris Saw Maker's.
On research I am not sure of the true origin of this anvil as it has no markings of any kind and far too heavy for me to lift to see if there are marking on the bottom. The Fish Saw Anvil does come with a stand which is square shaped and will come with the sale.
On the information I have found, I believe it could have been made in 1936 in Trenton, NJ.
This is the classic shape of a mid-size F&N saw anvil.
This was used to hammer large sawmill blades. The blade was always between the hammer and the anvil.
The face is extremely hard from years of work hardening. The face could be polished to an almost mirror finish if desired. It has been sitting in my driveway for years.
Fisher made over 200 different sizes and shape Saw Anvils. If they did not have a size and shape that a customer wanted, their in-house pattern maker's would create the pattern, then the anvil was made.
It is a used item as shown in pictures.
As I say it's very heavy so will need a two MAN lift for sure.
