Description
Ferrograph Series Seven Model 704 Tape Recorder and Tapes
Stereo quarter track machine with 7 1/2, 3 3/4 and 1 7/8 speeds.
The idler wheel and pinch roller, which become soft over the years have been replaced.
Using good quality tape, the sound is great for a machine that is 55 years old.
Requires a separate amplifier and speakers.
Good general working order and cosmetic condition but obviously, as the machine in old, it would benefit from a full service. This is reflected in the price, which I believe is fair.
A video of the machine playing is at: https://youtu.be/MYdW5nabx1U
Power lead, owner’s manual and service manual are included.
I also have 170 reel to reel tapes and one 7 inch empty spool which I will include free in the sale.
80 x 7 inch reels including Concertape, EMITape, Realistic, BASF, Scotch, Telefunken, Sony, Philips, International Electronics, Soundcraft, RTC, Ross, Irish and some unknown brands.
20 x 6 inch reels
Including Telefunken, Philips, Scotch and some unknown brands.
21 x 5 inch reels
Including EMITape, Philips, Scotch, BASF and some unknown brands.
Many have home recordings from the 1950s to the 1970s including orchestral, easy listening, pop, country and radio plays.
The early recordings are 4 track, some at 3 3/4 and some at 7 1/2 IPS.
The later recordings are stereo 7 1/2 IPS.
The small pre-recorded reels are 2 track mono 1 7/8 IPS.
I have played a large selection of the tapes and found no problems with oxide shedding. The quality of the recordings is generally good / average but varies according to age.
Please, no silly offers.
This machine is HEAVY!
CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY from Kippax area of Leeds.
