Description
EPNS A1 spoon commemorating the 1937 Coronation of King George VI.
Made by James Walker Ltd and inscribed 'Wandsworth' in the bowl. Features the head of the King and Queen.
The A1 designation indicates that it is a superior quality piece.
The maker's firm was originally founded around 1902 by Sidney Sanders and William Metherell. From 1907 the firm operated as Sanders & Co and later acquired the name James Walker from a jeweller's shop in Peckham (estd 1823). In the 1920s the company was dissolved forming two new companies, James Walker and Sanders & Co. In 1969 the two companies were amalgamated as James Walker, Jeweller. The group was sold off in 1984 to H. Samuel.
In very good condition but I will give it a further clean before dispatch.
