Description
Brass is stamped with the number 1503066 (possibly the service number of the original owner) and the patent number 116972/17. Tarnished – see photographs – but is likely to be over 100 years old and connected to the military and WW1. Measures 17 cm long x 5.5 cm wide. This simple device was used in the armed and other services to keep uniforms clean when polishing buttons. The gadget was simply placed between the button and fabric in order to protect the material from being stained by the brass polish. Sold as seen. From a pet and smoke-free home.
