Brand new and unopened set of 9 mint coins from 1992 including a special edition UK EEC dual date (1992 / 1993) 50p.
The 50p had only 109,000 coins entered into general circulation, an extremely low figure and the lowest of all the rare 50 pence UK coins. To put it into context, the famous Kew Gardens 50p coin had 210,000 enter general circulation so, in comparison, this is over twice as rare. It is by far the rarest of any fifty pence coin to have been released to date.
The 50p is part of a Royal Mint set, which is a sealed limited edition, never in circulation, and is now over 30 years old. It is titled ‘A Celebration of Carsington’ and dated Friday 22nd May 1992, it was produced to mark the opening of the new Derbyshire water supply reservoir.
All the coins in the presentation pack are in sealed packing and have never been open or touched by hand.
