RESTORED ANTIQUE CAST IRON FIREPLACE FIRE SURROUND

Description

Fully restored, stripped and polished with Liberon Iron Paste which has been buffed to give a graphite shine, but could be made matt black with another coat and no buffing.

During renovation we repaired and strengthened a crack in each of the top two fire bars (see photo, not really visible) and a crack in the mantle shelf (see photos). Some marks and wear consistent with age and use, particularly to the firebars which have pock marks from heat damage (see photos) - a clear sign of age and prior use! No other obvious structural damage or signs of repair to the exterior. It is old and has had a life however, so it isn’t perfect. Overall condition is as shown in photos.

It protrudes only very slightly at the back so it wouldn’t necessarily need to go over an opening. There are two fixing loops on the back to aid attachment in situ.
