Description

Jøtul I 80 Maxi Harmony with canopy.

This was one of the flagship models of Jøtul's traditional range - Jøtul being the Rolls Royce of wood burner manufacturers. We have had Jøtuls in various homes for nearly fifty years - they are superb. The number 6 we fitted in our first cottage in the seventies is still there and still looking good. I have used a brochure photograph as it is packed away in the far corner of our garage following a house move.

We bought it for our previous home, where we used it for about three winters. When we decided to downsize we thought it was too nice to leave, so we had a Jøtul F8 installed and kept it carefully stored indoors - then finished up in a modern house rather than the period character place we were looking for - and discovered that the canopy wouldn’t really work with the fireplace here. Seriously gutted as we have had to downsize Jøtuls as well as houses:-(

This one was sold as a cassette that could be built in with the option of buying an expensive canopy from Jøtul, which we did.

It’s a brilliant stove. As well as looking good it works well whether you want it ticking over to give gentle background heat or want it to roar to warm a large room quickly on a cold winter’s day. In a cold winter when the underfloor heating in the farmhouse was not working properly I was able to bank it up and keep it going through the night.
It has a pair of bi-fold doors either side which open very neatly if you want an open fire.

The picture, which does not show the legs clearly, is a library one as the Jøtul is carefully stored at the rear of our (dry) garage. The dimensions plan gives a better idea of the appearance.

The canopy, which slots onto the top of the stove is 780mm high. This can be reduced to suit if you have a lower fireplace.
There are also matching panels that fit either side of the stove body.

It cost £2.600 new. Today that would be over £3K.

We are located in Bishopstone, near Salisbury. The stove is heavy. I advise two people for moving it.
