Description

Jøtul I 18 Harmony with plinth and canopy.

This was the flagship model of Jøtul's traditional range - Jøtul being the Rolls Royce of wood burner manufacturers. I have used brochure photographs as it is packed away in the far corner of our (dry) garage following a house move.

We bought it for the large inglenook fireplace in a large room that was rarely used in the farmhouse we were living in at the time. When we decided to downsize we thought it was too nice to leave so we had a different Jøtul fitted and kept this one carefully stored indoors.
Now we have downsized to a modern place and discovered that the canopy is too wide to fit the fireplace here so had to downsize Jøtuls as well as house - seriously gutted:-(

We have had Jøtuls in various homes for nearly fifty years - they are superb. The number 6 we fitted in our first cottage in the seventies is still there and still looking good.
This one was designed as a cassette that could be built in, with the option of being mounted on a plinth, and the option of a canopy as shown in the first photograph.
We have the plinth.
We also bought the very expensive canopy as it was going to go in a large inglenook fireplace. This was carefully wrapped by our excellent removers.

It has a pair of bi-fold doors either side which open very neatly if you want an open fire.

The pictures are library ones as the Jøtul is carefully stored at the rear of our (dry) garage.

The canopy, which slots onto the top of the stove is 900mm high. This can be reduced to suit if you have a lower fireplace.
There are also matching panels that fit either side of the stove body.

It cost over £3.500 new. Today that would be over £4K.

The second picture shows the stove on optional legs. We bought a set of these too which can be made available if you prefer legs to the plinth.

We are located in Bishopstone, near Salisbury. The stove is very heavy. Two people are advised for moving it.
