Phlebotomist and Point of Care Testing Coordinator

We are recruiting for a Phlebotomy and POCT Coordinator to join our team where you will help coordinate the provision of phlebotomy and point–of–care testing (POCT) services across Oxford Health NHS FT. This is a great opportunity for someone who has current experience in Phlebotomy.

Working with the Phlebotomy and POCT Manager, you will support the delivery of phlebotomy and POCT to clinical services, review the POCT middleware system, help coordinate POCT external quality assessment schemes, coordinate the POCT competency and training database, undertake clinical administrative duties, and be a point of contact for enquires related to the phlebotomy and POCT services.

This is a full time role (37.5 hours per week) based at the Warneford Hospital in Oxford as well as undertaking work at multiple sites across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Undertake phlebotomy and POCT across multiple sites of Oxford Health Foundation Trust Review the POCT middleware system on a daily basis and investigate results that have not automatically transferred to the patient care record systems Support the processing ofexternal quality assessment schemes across the Trust Undertake quality control testing of in–house POCT devices General administrative duties, such as, answering telephone calls, and email enquiries About us

Educated to GCSE English and Math's or equivalent standard Relevant Qualification in Phlebotomy (e.g., Certification) Desirable

A science qualification Paediatric trained phlebotomist Further Training or Job Related Aptitude and Skills/Personal Qualities

Proficient in blood collection techniques Advanced level written and verbal communication skills Microsoft Office computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to work independently using own initiative Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals Desirable

Understanding of POCT equipment, calibration and maintenance Ability to assist training staff in POCT procedures Experience

Proven experience as a phlebotomist in healthcare setting Able to perform phlebotomy procedures and support training staff in Phlebotomy Knowledge of Pathology tests and samples required Proven experience of working independently and adapting to changeable priorities Demonstrable experience of working in highly demanding environments where good prioritization skills are required Desirable: Demonstrable experience with the use and maintenance of Point of Care Testing devices
